KIRKUK, Feb.17 (AKnews)- For the self-sufficiency of Kirkuk province in generating the required electricity three power plants will be installed in the province soon.
Fuad Hussein, a member of Kirkuk Provincial Council, said the decision was made recently after deputy for electricity minister met Kirkuk Council.
An Iranian company will install two plants of 196MWs in Dubiz parish, and a South Korean company the other plant of 293MW in Taza parish. The project costs $160 million USD.
"With installing these three plants, Kirkuk electricity shortage will get over and we will not need the power from Baghdad," Hussein added.
