Iraq announces a "new phase" of security cooperation with Saudi Arabia

The Ministry of Interior Wednesday for a "new phase" of security cooperation with Saudi Arabia. A delegation from the Ministry of Interior visited Saudi Arabia recently to discuss the cooperation between the two countries in the field of security and counter-infiltration operations. A statement issued by the Interior Undersecretary region Adnan al-Asadi said that "the Iraqi security delegation's visit to Riyadh was very successful."
He pointed out that the visit resulted in agreement on security cooperation began between the two countries include the fight against "terrorism" and drugs, organized crime and smuggling across the border. The two sides agreed to activate the frozen ways of cooperation between the two parties because of the reluctance of Saudi Arabia in the opening to Iraq, despite repeated Iraqi initiatives. Asadi said that "the cooperation will be through the points remain in close contact between the Ministries of Interior the two countries," and expressed hope that "this collaboration will be an introduction to the opening up of bilateral relations in political, economic as well as security."
He stressed that al-Asadi, "an Iraqi delegation headed by Minister of Justice Hassan Shammari will travel to Riyadh to discuss the issues concerning the exchange of prisoners between the two countries and the governed, without addressing the issue of death row, so as not to conflict with the Constitution of Iraq." Iraq retains a number of Saudi detainees had previously sentenced some to death for their participation in all acts of terrorism and belonging to al Qaeda instigation of the sheikhs in some areas, Saudi Arabia.
