IS confirms reaching agreement with Barzani over holding national meeting before Summit
Baghdad (AIN) –The Iraqiya Slate confirmed reaching agreement with the President of Kurdistan Region over holding the upcoming national meeting before the Arab Summit which will be held in Baghdad at the end of March.
The spokesperson of the Slate, Maysoun al-Damlouji, stated to AIN "The IS delegation which was headed by, Ayad Allawi, and attended by some of the Slate members and leaders including the Vice-President, Tariq al-Hashimi, met Barzani in Erbil on Tuesday."
"Both sides stressed the necessity of settling the pending issues through holding the meeting before the Summit in order to ensure the success of the Summit to restore Iraq's pioneer role in the Arab Region," she added.
"Both sides highlighted the importance of bringing the various views closer to consolidate the unity of Iraq and to support the democratic experiment," she concluded.
The IS stressed on several occasions the importance of holding the upcoming national meeting before the Arab Summit.
Some of the members of the Preparatory Committee expected holding the meeting after the Summit. /End/
