Erbil (AIN) –The President of Kurdistan Region Masoud Barzani accused the Iraqi Government of “Attempting to urge the Kurds to facilitate the escape of the judicially wanted Vice-President Tariq al-Hashimi outside Iraq,” stressing that “Our answer was clear because we are not smugglers.”
In his speech at the Second National Conference for the Kurdistani Youth held in Erbil on Thursday, Barzani said “We will not hand over VP Hashimi because he came to Kurdistan Region to meet with the President Talabani,” calling “to settle his case through the three presidencies.”
He added “If Hashimi was involved in those crimes why would the government want the KR to be involved in making him flee.”
“Baghdad Government took the throne through sacrifices of the Kurds so the Kurds have rights as partners in Baghdad,” according to Barzani who said “Some sides in Baghdad believe that there is a powerful central government in Baghdad and the Kurds are either rebels or bandits who live in Kurdistan mountains.”
“Baghdad is governed by the partnership among the Sunni, Shiite and the Kurds without neglecting rights of other communities,” he emphasized.
Barzani pointed out that “Some losers who do not want to develop Kurdistan region declare that oil contracts concluded by Kurdistan Region are illegal and we confirm for the whole world that none of those contract is against the constitution.”
“These oil contracts will continue since we are committed to Constitution,” he concluded. /End/
