Mahma Khalil: the imposition of tariffs on imported goods supports local product

{Baghdad, Euphrates News} considered the decision of the Economic Commission Mahma Khalil that the imposition of tariffs on imported goods would support the local product and to encourage the farmer and the sower of Iraq, but stressed at the same time the need to develop controls to reduce the high prices of food and fruits imported.
Khalil said in a statement to the Euphrates News Agency {} on Tuesday that "the rising prices of imported materials and the result of the increase of the dollar and the imposition of economic sanctions on countries that import from Iraq, which is Syria and Iran."
It is noteworthy that the Iraqi market has seen a big increase in food prices and imported fruits and vegetables, especially after the rise of the dollar against the Iraqi dinar.
He added that "because of the economic sanctions imposed on States which is imported, including Iraq and the deteriorating security situation in Syria led to high prices and the majority of materials are imported from Syria and Iran."
He pointed out that "We must support the national product and interest," adding, "We have proposed the development of customs collection in 31 _6 _2012 to support the peasants and farmers and to promote national products."
