Libya re-establishes ties with Iraq

TRIPOLI, Libya, March 29 (UPI) -- Libya said it will re-establish a diplomatic relationship with Iraq after the countries' ties were severed about 10 years ago by ousted leader Moammar Gadhafi.
The chairman of the Libyan National Transitional Council, Mustafa Abduljalil, announced the initiative at a meeting of Arab leaders in Baghdad, the Kuwait news agency KUNA reported Thursday.
"Correcting what Libyan-Iraqi relations have been affected with of fluctuation and instability, we [Libya] have decided to re-establish relations between the two countries in order to serve the common interest of the friendly nations," he said.
