Turkey plans to trade electricity with Iraqi gas

Baghdad (AIN) -The Turkish government declared that it is planning to establish an electricity generating station near the borders with north of Iraq to sell power to Iraq in return for gas.
The Turkish Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Taner Yildiz, said in a press conference held in Ankara, Sunday "We will erect an electricity generating station near the Iraqi northern borders to supply Iraq with power in exchange for the natural gas."
He added "We were importing gas from Iraq and the exchanging process will be very transparent," stressing that "Importing gas from Iraq will be assumed by the company which won the bid."
Yildez said "We also try to diversify the sources of imported oil since the government looks forward to find other alternative sources for gas."/End/
