France begins trial on the Iraq oil-for-food program!

After
diplomats, politicians, activists and journalists, scrutinizes the
trials of the "oil for food" in Paris in the involvement of French oil
group total in the case of embezzlement of funds under the embargo in
Iraq.

former Minister Charles Pasqua and 16 other defendants different charges
of corruption to influence peddling or collusion.
And Adair in
Iraq between 1996 and 2003 in order to alleviate the suffering of the
Iraqi people by allowing the country to sell part of raw, despite the
ban imposed after the first Gulf war.
He said a United Nations report that the program has caused corruption on an international scale to billions of dollars.
Procedural
issues dominated the first day of the trial, defense lawyers submitted
questions on the constitutionality of the charges. Lawyer, for example,
assumes that the company already had been convicted on charges related
to the oil-for-food programme in a court in New York.
The Court will decide on Tuesday whether to refer questions to the Court of Cassation, which could delay the case.
Total faces charges of bribery, collusion and profiteering from influence peddling charges denied by all.
Wemargeri
accused of complicity in the misuse of corporate assets, faces
imprisonment for up to five years and a fine of 375,000 euros (499.3
million dollars) if convicted.
