BAGHDAD (Iba) ... A Minister of Construction and Housing Mohammed Darraji that the coming weeks will see the Ministry's announcement about an international competition for the best design for housing and low-cost housing for the poor within the project, which was recently approved by the Cabinet.
He said a ministry statement today the minister as saying that the draft housing for the poor approved by the Commission National Housing is now in the House of Representatives for final approval and includes a portion of the investment budget of the state for the coming years for the purpose of building housing and low-cost distribution to the poor for free.
He added: This project has been discussed recently with the Organization for Human Settlements (HABITAT), the UN on the sidelines of an international conference held in Kenya with the participation of the Minister and approved and Ostansal UN resolution to support this project.
He pointed out: that the President of the Organization of Human Settlements (HABITAT) Jean Claus will visit Iraq soon will sign a memorandum of understanding to support the poor housing project, which was adopted by the ministry.
He explained: that the draft housing for the poor does not mean the construction of houses of poor or inappropriate does not befit the right of citizens but rather means the use of alternatives to building the cost of a few qualities of a good is the use of modern techniques in which to reduce the cost of construction, adding that the project would be a national, comprehensive and implemented in all provinces of the country.
