Maliki pledges to meet yesterday's through legislating a law

BAGHDAD / NINA / Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki said "the demonstration, which came out yesterday, expressed its point of view that we adopt it, and the demonstration is a legitimate right, whether we agreed with its point of view or not, and every citizen has the right to express his opinion in accordance with legal regulations."
He said in a press statement: "I confirm my commitment and the government's commitment to provide climates of democracy adopted by the Constitution" adding that "I have taken the demands of the protesters and we will put them in the Cabinet's meeting on next Tuesday to put a bill to the House of Representatives, asking the House to interact with the demands of the masses."
He added: "The demonstrators expressed their demands, which we adopt them and we have a decision in the Council of Ministers to reduce the salaries of the higher grades and raise the salaries of lower grades, constitutionally standpoint there is no salary or retirement for the member of the House of Representatives and it must be re-examined"
He noted that the pensions of the MPs, members of the provincial and local councils are straining the state's budget. / End
