BAGHDAD / NINA / MP, of the state of law coalition, Kamal al-Saadi said: “it is the Iraqi people who decide whether Maliki will stay for a third term not the U.S. administration or any other party.”
He told the National Iraqi News Agency / NINA / that “the people, since the fall of the former regime, have the right to choose who is fit to rule through the ballot boxes and free election not any party.”
Saadi added, “the U.S. Congress or any other U.S. officials did not ask Maliki to step down, but demanded more internal openness and this is essential for the continuation of the political process and the stability.”
Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki has returned to Baghdad yesterday afternoon after a state visit to the United States of America lasted several days, during which he met with U.S. President Barack Obama, Vice President Joe Biden and other senior officials. / End
