Iraq keen to adopt openness towards Saudi Arabia to serve common interests, says Zebari

Baghdad (Forat) -Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari, met His Highness Prince Salman bin Sultan bin Abdulaziz, Saudi Deputy Minister of Defense.
A statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs received by Alforat News Agency cited "During the meeting, the two sides discussed relations between Iraq and Saudi Arabia, the need to work on normalization of the bilateral relations for the benefit of the two peoples, security in the region and emphasized the important role of Saudi Arabia in the Arab, Islamic, international and regional issues."
"Foreign Minister stressed Iraq's keenness of openness to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in accordance with the principles of common interests, mutual respect and non-interference," the statement added.
"They also emphasized that there are real opportunities in terms of the interests of the two countries to cooperate in issues of border security, trade promotion and cooperation in the fight against terrorism and extremism," the statement continued.
"They also focused on the need to strengthen consultation and cooperation to address the regional challenges, promote confidence building measures between the two countries and to enhance moderation in the region," the statement concluded. /End/
