BAGHDAD / NINA / President Fuad Masum discussed with the leader of the Supreme Islamic Council, Adel Abdul Mahdi exerted efforts to form the next government.
A statement by the Office of the President cited that "president, Masum received Abdul-Mahdi, in his office in Baghdad, where the latter congratulated the president on the occasion of being elected as President of the Republic, wishing him success in the performance of his duties."
The two sides discussed during the meeting, "the latest developments on the political and security scenes, and exerted efforts to form the next government."
