BAGHDAD, Sept. 5 (Xinhua) -- Radical Shiite cleric Moqtada al- Sadr Monday warned the Iraqi government to carry out reforms as " the last chance" or face massive protests, Sadr's office said in a statement.
*****"This is the last chance before setting a date for open, peaceful and popular demonstrations," *****Sadr said in the statement released by his office website.*****
Sadr also put three conditions for Prime Minister Nuri al- Maliki's government, including distribution of a share of the country's oil revenues for each Iraqi, creating at least 50,000 jobs in all Iraqi provinces for unemployed people and providing free fuel for private electricity generators until the country's power supply is improved, the statement said.
*****He said if the government meets the conditions, the demonstrations will be postponed indefinitely.*****
Sadr confirmed that his conditions are not meant to overthrow Maliki's government in which Sadr's political movement holds six posts.
Sadr's political bloc, which is part of the leading Shiite alliance, has 40 seats in Iraq's 325-seat parliament.
