Iraq and Iran sign a memorandum of understanding on defense cooperation

Defense Minister Khaled al-Obeidi signed with his Iranian counterpart Brigadier General Hossein Dehghan Tuesday a memorandum of understanding on defense cooperation between Iran and Iraq.
The memorandum of understanding to identify the areas of defense cooperation between the two countries also provides for the two sides to confirm the implementation of bilateral understandings.
It was decided to continue the cooperation between the two countries to find an Iraqi national army to maintain Iraq's sovereignty over its territory and protect its security and that the two sides will continue their consultations in this area.
The two sides also stressed the need for consultation and communication in order to ensure the security of the region and decided to continue consultations starting from terrorism to Iraq's security Aahdd alone, but leaves its effect on the security of the entire region.
