BAGHDAD / NINA / Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi called on the Turkish government to encourage their companies to invest in Iraq.
A statement by the Prime Minister, “said that al-Abadi, received today, Turkish Energy Minister Taner Yildiz and his accompanying delegation, and discussed with them, means to strengthen relations between the two countries in various fields and solve the outstanding problems in a number of issues, and to discuss the political and security situation in Iraq and the region.
Abadi stressed that the Iraqi government was keen to “develop the Iraqi-Turkish relations in the fields of politics, economy, energy, trade, water and other sectors,” noting that “the government desire to solve all the problems on the basis of the interests of the two peoples and respect for sovereignty and non-interference in internal affairs.
For his part, the Turkish Energy Minister expressed his country’s aspiration that Iraq recovers quickly and that Iraq and its people enjoy security and stability, noting that the Turkish government is trying to resolve all the outstanding problems with Iraq.
Yildiz arrived in Baghdad today to preside over the meetings of the session 17 of the Turkish-Iraqi Joint Committee.
