Iraq Extends Deadline For Oil Firms To Join Bid Register

Iraq has extended to June 6 a deadline to receive documents from international companies wishing to register to compete for the fourth hydrocarbons bidding round, in place of the previously announced May 19, the Iraqi oil ministry said.
The ministry has said it is planning to hold the new bidding round in January 2012 to explore for oil and gas in 12 exploration blocks scattered in various parts of Iraq.
Iraq had pre-qualified around 45 international companies for its three bidding rounds held over the last 22 months. Almost half of these firms, including oil majors, won deals in Iraq.
The ministry has also posted in its website application forms in which it asked companies to state their previous experiences worldwide on developing oil and gas fields and exploration blocks. They also ask for information on their financial situation.
