Maysan Oil Company announces the distribution of more than 8 billion dinars as compensation to farmers

Shafaq News / Maysan Oil Company said on Thursday, that it has distributed more than 8 billion dinars as compensation to farmers for their land, which are located within the work in the oil fields.
The general director of Maysan oil company, Adnan Noshi said in a statement that “the amounts of compensation distributed by the company to farmers in exchange for giving up their land in the oil fields, which are used by the company to implement oil projects have reached more than 8 billion dinars since 2011 until the end of 2014”.
He pointed out that ” compensation committee formed by the company is coordinating with the directorates and departments of agriculture to provide them with lists of contract farmers with the Department of Agriculture formally in order to compensate them for their lands where oil projects are being implemented by foreign companies in Bazerkan and Halfaya fields.”
The company’s general manager said that “compensation came in accordance with the Cabinet’s recent decision, which gives farmers a good compensation on the ground as well as the costs disbursed by the farmer.”
He added that “the compensation are continuing,” adding that those compensation may have contribute dramatically to accelerate the pace of implementation of oil projects by foreign companies and what is in the development of the fields and boost the economy in the country.”
