Baghdad: Kurdistan Prime Minister, Nechirvan Barzani arrived on Sunday, to Baghdad International Airport on the head of KRG delegation in the framework of the official visit to meet with Iraqi PM, Haider al-Abadi oil to settle outstanding differences and other files related to financial and security aspects. A political source said that “Bazrani arrived earlier to Baghdad International Airport, and will meet prime minister, Haider al-Abadi at 1 p.m. to discuss the outstanding issues between the two governments, most notably the settlement of disputes over oil agreement.” Baghdad and Erbil have signed a preliminary agreement early last December after a bitter struggle on the management of oil wealth and that includes Kurdistan Regional Government KRg to export the amount of 250 thousand barrels per day of oil fields in favor of Baghdad…shafaaq.com | Ekurd.net
Kurdistan Region is to declare independence: Ayad Allawi
Baghdad: Iraqi Vice President and former PM Ayad Allawi said the Kurdistan Region in Ira’s north to declare its independence from Iraq and establish an independent state, al-Ma’alomeh news agency reported. Allawi’s office said in a statement that the region would declare its independence soon or later, adding that the situation is not suitable for such a move. The statement, however, went on to say that if the central government in Baghdad and the Kurdish government in Erbil reach accord on oil and its venues then there would be no place for the expected decision. The militants of the Islamic State (IS) are not removed though bombing, the best way, however, is to overcome the extremists group in ideological ways. Nineveh: Islamic State group (IS) militants kidnapped 41 Kurdish families near Zumar district in Nineveh province. Iraqi News reported. Conference against IS in Slemani
Slemani: Islamic scholars in Kurdistan Region are holding a conference in Slemani (Sulaymaniyah) city in response to the rise of the Islamic State (IS) group, which still controls a significant amount of territory in Iraq. An NRT correspondent reported the conference commenced on Saturday with an open meeting between Islamic scholars from the region. The aim of the conference, which is set to continue for several days, is to face the Islamic State’s thoughts and perspectives. It is anticipated that a large number of scholars will attend the conference. IS announced a “caliphate” across parts of Iraq and Syria last summer, following the fall of Iraq’s second largest city of Mosul to the group in June. By August, the group launched an attack on the predominately Kurdish Yazidi region of Sinjar (Shingal) and drew increasingly closer to the Kurdish capital of Erbil, which prompted the establishment of the U.S.-led coalition against IS. Erbil: Kurdistan Parliament Speaker Yusuf Muhammad said Iraqi is needed to be decentralized politically to keep its integrity. Addressing an S.I.O.I gathering in Italy, the Kurdish speaker said there are different sects and lines in Iraq and all of them should play a role in the state’s politics. Remaining in a united Iraq depends on the involvement of all lines and sects in the country’s policy and following a decentralized policy, he said, adding that the Kurdish people in the north of Iraq are seeking to have a modern government free of any corruption and need help from all European states and Italy in particular. Further oil talks between Erbil and Baghdad
Erbil: A delegation from the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG), chaired by Prime Minister Nechirvan Barzani, will visit Baghdad to discuss the agreement between the central government and Erbil on oil exports. Speaking during a conference in Erbil, KRG spokesman Safeen Dzayi said the Kurdistan region will abide by the agreement, but he added the Iraqi government must calculate the shipped oil annually, not daily. In response to Adel Abdul Mahdi’s statement to NRT that what existed between Iraq and Kurdistan was an understanding, not an agreement, Dzayi said it was an agreement, given its adoption as an article in the 2015 federal budget. Iran ready to cooperate with Iraqi Kurdistan in fight against IS: official
Erbil: A senior Iranian diplomat underlined Tehran’s readiness to continue cooperation with the Iraqi Kurdistan region in the fight against the IS terrorist group.Tehran’s readiness for continued cooperation with the Kurdistan Regional Government KRG was stressed by Director-General of the Iranian Foreign Ministry for Persian Gulf Affairs Mohammad Farazmand in a meeting with the Iraqi Kurdistan region’s Vice-Speaker Jafar Iminki in Erbil. Civilian Abducted in Khurmatu
Tuzkhurmatu: Two planted bomb blasts wounded two civilians in the town and one civilian was kidnapped by an unknown armed group in Tuzkhurmatu. A security source from Khurmatu told Millet that last night two IDEs went off in Askari Alley of the town and in front of a shop which injured two civilians. Meanwhile a masked group abducted a civilian in to an unknown place, said the source.
