BAGHDAD / NINA / Oil Minister, Adel Abdul-Mahdi said what had been invested in Iraq in the field of oil and gas represents only fraction of explored fields,” noting that “it is difficult for oil-producing countries to stay hostage to the vagaries of the oil market and great ambitions in the fields of oil and gas.”
He said in a press statement that “Iraq aspires to wider investments and direct invitations for companies with extensive experience in multiple areas of oil investments, with the specialized companies to extract natural gas and other petroleum products.”
The oil minister added that “the giant companies expressed a desire to come to Iraq and open new horizons for cooperation and investment, including the Qatari companies,” noting that “Qatar has extensive experience in the field of gas investment, and Iraq is just in the beginning in investment operations.”
He continued, “What was invested in Iraq in the field of oil and gas represents only a fraction of the area explored”, stressing that he will face these challenges to deal with lower oil prices.
