Kuwaiti ambassador: Some Iraqi and Kuwaiti MPs accentuate the crisis between the two countries

Kuwaiti ambassador to Iraq criticized on Monday the way some Iraqi and Kuwaiti MPs and Iraqi media is dealing with the crises between the two countries and said that these behaviors deteriorate the situation between the two countries. The Kuwaiti ambassador said that Iraq debts are from pre-Saddam era adding that they cannot be canceled without a law that shall pass by the parliament.
Ambassador Al Al Mou’aman told Alsumarianews during an interview that “relations between Iraq and Kuwait are fluctuating between phases where the two countries are on good terms and phases of escalation”. “Some people are causing this escalation. But we cannot cancel the opinion of a person or an MP”, he added.
“Until now we still receive messages from Iraqis who are not part of the influencing Iraqi political institution especially parliament members affiliated to certain blocs. In addition you cannot disregard the influence of the people who chant against you”, Kuwaiti ambassador said. Iraq media is attacking Kuwait and some of the Kuwaiti media is answering back”, he uttered.. As to Iraq debt to Kuwait Ma’moun said “these debts exist before the rule of Saddam and some of them date back to the seventies of the last century”. “Canceling these debts needs a law that shall pass by the parliament and a period of stability that would allow taking such a decision”, Kuwait ambassador said.
Kuwaiti Ambassador to Iraq said that the countries that canceled the debts in Paris club did not endure Kuwait’s suffering. Kuwait Ambassador also criticized Iraq for not asking clarifications from Kuwait but after reaching the stage of media escalation with Kuwait.
Kuwait Ambassador to Baghdad Ali Al Mo’aman said on Monday that his country presented to the visiting Iraqi delegation that Al Mubarak port does not affect the naval activity in Iraq and stressed that both parties want to maintain both sides’ interests and suggested sharing the management in Khawr Abdullah.
Kuwait Ambassador to Iraq said in January 26 that the issue of Iraq and Kuwait debts needs a lot of discussions and stressed that some of them are very old. To that the ambassador also revealed a promise from Kuwait’s Prince to be the first to attend Baghdad summit.
