Zebari Calls To list The World Bank’s Projects Within The Country’s Investment Budget Plan

Finance Minister Hoshyar Zebari, with the participation of the governor of the Iraqi Central Bank and the delegation of the Ministry of Finance held technical talks with the Executive Director of the Iraq Program at the World Bank Mirza Hassan and members of the Iraq team in the bank.
Statement from the Ministry of Finance said that the two sides discussed, during the meeting, the development programs implemented by the Bank in Iraq, and the Iraqi side has stressed the need for Iraq to purposeful programs in vital sectors such as energy, electricity and the need to set priorities.
Zebari asked to involve the projects of the World Bank within the investment budget plan in the country.
It is scheduled to visit Iraq soon a high-level delegation under the direction of the President of the World Bank Group to look closely at the emergency needs of the displaced and assess the bank’s contribution to the reconstruction of the liberated areas and propose to allocate immediate financial assistance.
In other meeting at the World Bank, a group of experts of the bank in the fields of economics and public finance policies and the implementation of the budget, introduced overview of the state of the Iraqi economy and the financial cash pressures on the budget, and financial and administrative reforms required.
A team of experts conducted a compared study with suffocating financial crises suffered by Argentina, Turkey previously. / End
