PM Al-Abadi Welcomes UN Representative

Prime Minister Dr. Haider al-Abadi received on Tuesday, the Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General for Iraq: Mr. Ján Kubiš.
They discussed updates on the political and security situations in Iraq along with UNAMI programs in various sectors as well as issues concerning the IDPs and reconstruction of the liberated areas.
Dr. al-Abadi commended UNAMI’s efforts in supporting Iraq throughout the fight against Daesh and in the political and humanitarian issues.
Mr. Kubiš in turn affirmed continuation of UNAMI’s efforts in extending aids to the liberated areas to return the displaced to their home.
They also highlighted finding solutions for the IDPs and the provision of safe areas for them where Mr. Kubiš demonstrated willingness to cooperate with the Iraqi government in this regard and confirmed support of the United Nations to the Iraqi government in its efforts to re-establish peace in the areas usurped by Daesh.
