BAGHDAD / Nina / Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi discussed on Wednesday with the Head of the UN Mission in Iraq, Jan Kobitch the developments in the political and security situation in Iraq and the Mission programs in a number of sectors in addition to the conditions of the displaced people and the reconstruction of the liberated areas.
al-Abadi praised, according to a statement by his press office, the efforts by the United Nations Mission in respect of the political and humanitarian situation and to support Iraq in its war against terrorism.
For his part, Kubitch stressed the continuation of the UN Mission efforts in providing assistance in the liberated areas and provide support to restore the displaced families to their areas.
The statement said that they noted the importance of addressing the issue of displaced persons and securing safe areas for them, and Kobitch expressed willing of the Mission to make every effort to cooperate with the Iraqi government in this regard, and said the United Nations support for the Iraqi government in its efforts to restore security in the areas usurped by the IS.
