BAGHDAD / Obelisk: approved by the Armed Services Committee in the US House of Representatives, the US draft National Defense Law of the controversial 2016, after canceling one of the paragraphs of the law that Kurdish Peshmerga forces and Sunni tribes are considered "states".
According to news published Brief Media Center, and seen by "obelisk", a majority of the committee voted 60 votes, to two, the bill that is put forward in the House of Representatives next session during the month of May.
The Chairman of the Armed Services Committee in the House of Representatives, Republican Rep. Mac Thornberry, in a statement issued by his office that "all the members of the committee can be proud of this project."
He said Thornberry, a patron of the bill: "After a day of extensive discussions, we have produced legislation that is the first step in the reform process substantial".
The Commission issued a House Armed Services Committee on February 27 annual draft defense law, which authorizes the exchange $ 715 million in aid to the Iraqi forces, 25 percent of which go to the Kurdish forces and Sunni tribes Iraqi National Guard.
The bill was considered in the previous version of the Kurdish Peshmerga forces and Sunni tribes and the National Guard "states", which allows these entities to receive direct military aid from the United States.
The bill requires foreign ministers and defense the Americans to provide their testimonies, about giving the central government in Baghdad a bigger role of minorities in the political process and management of the country.
According to the legislation if there is no clear political progress by the Iraqi government within three months of the passage of the bill, the United States would withhold military aid, from the central government in Baghdad and will go 60 percent out of 75 percent allocated to Baghdad to Peshmerga forces.
The Iraqi government announced last Wednesday, its rejection of the proposed bill in the US Congress on dealing with the Kurds and Sunnis in Iraq as a "two states", and considered as it would lead to further divisions in the region, called for him not to go.
