Abadi appointed Maj. Gen. Alwani, the leader of the popular crowd in Anbar

Anbar Provincial Council announced on Friday the appointment of the Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces, Major General Ziad Haider al-Abadi al-Alwani, the leader of the rally popular in the province, while pointing out that it would be responsible for arming and equipping the tribes.
Said Amal al-Fahdawi in an interview to the (long-Presse), "Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi approved the appointment of Major General Ziad Tariq Alwani commander of popular crowd in Anbar province and the supervisor of the training, arming and equipping tribal fighters to support the cleansing against al Daash battles."
Fahdawi added that "Anbar Council welcomed the appointment of Major General Ziad al-Alwani, who now serves as commander of the First Division in the current Iraqi army."
It is noteworthy that, Major General Ziad Tariq Alwani held several military positions in the former Iraqi army, most recently as commander of the First Division.
