01-05-2015
I passed the Armed Services Committee in the US House of Representatives a bill put forward by its member Mac Thornberry impose conditions for the allocation of US military assistance to Iraq worth $ 715 million from the defense budget for 2016.
He pointed out the official website of the Commission that the decision provides for the allocation of the said amount of troops involved in the fighting against al Daash Islamic state, to go to 25 percent of it directly to the Peshmerga forces and Sunni forces.
The condition of the resolution of the remaining 75 percent after the exchange and the Ministries of Defense and Foreign provide proof of the Iraqi government's commitment to the process of national reconciliation, and in the case failed to prove it, go 60 percent of the remaining amount Kurdish and Sunni forces.
And it allocates the draft law on the defense budget of $ 600 million to train and equip the moderate Syrian opposition, and other amounts to enhance security at the Jordanian border and increasing the military capabilities of the army there.
The bill has sparked widespread in Iraq as it saw parliamentary forces, issued a condemnation of data, that the draft resolution violates Iraq's sovereignty and the will of the Iraqi people overlooked.
The refusal of Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi bill, and considered it a prelude to further divisions.
Philly: We seek to modify the resolution
Commenting on the draft resolution, the Iraqi ambassador in Washington, Philly Luqman said that his country is determined to work with "key members of the US Congress and the US administration to amend it .. and the delivery of the priorities of the Iraqi government and the promotion of shared visions."
He was surprised in a statement that the draft resolution comes at the same time that the Iraqi forces are working with the international coalition forces led by the United States, to train and equip troops of the sons of Anbar tribes to liberate their areas of control Daash militants.
He added that "incite the components of the people on each other, as does the draft resolution, will only weaken our unity and to allow for the organization of Daash and other extremists penetration among our ranks."
