The Armed Services Committee in Congress did not intend to interfere in Iraq’s affairs

BAGHDAD / Nina / Member of the Armed Services Committee in the US Congress Mac Thornberry said on Thursday that his committee does not intend to interfere in the internal affairs of Iraq nor violate its sovereignty.
He said in a press statement commenting on the paragraph of the draft 1223 US budget law: “The Committee does not intend to interfere in the internal affairs of Iraq nor violate its sovereignty.”
He noted that the Committee did not want to make decisions concerning the Iraqis and their interior affairs and the sovereignty of their country.
The government announced yesterday its rejection to the proposed bill in the US Congress on dealing with the Kurds and Sunnis in Iraq as two states, noting that it would lead to further divisions in the region, before the United States confirms through its Embassy in Baghdad, that the draft submitted to Congress does not represent its policy.
