Nineveh governor calls for power sharing in Iraq

Nineveh governor Ethel Nujaifi stressed the need for sharing-powers in Iraq through the establishment of geographic regions.
Nujaifi said in a speech at Brooking,s Institute for Strategic Studies in Washington, according to a statement issued by his office, “No alternative to the people of Nineveh in the liberation of their province.
Nujaifi explained that a geographical regions must be established in two phases, the first is the creation of a geographical region of Nineveh province , within the administrative border , then comes the second phase of negotiations with other or neighboring provinces to affiliate and to address the relationship between them according to the Constitution.
Nujaifi has pointed out that “the establishment of Nineveh province, will give the opportunity for the components of Iraqi people to ensure their rights provided by the Constitution, stressing the need for Nineveh province to free and fair elections involving Iraqi forces after the liberation. / End
