Baghdad: Iraqi MP of the independent Bloc, Abbass al-Khuzai guessed postponement of three draft important laws to the next legislative term due to the continuing political differences and not agreed upon. Aid collected by Kurds in Germany reach Shingal
Shingal: A lorry of aid collected by Kurdish people in Germany for the Yazidi people in Shingal (Sinjar) in northwest Iraq, has reached the Mount Sinjar where a challenging struggle for life is going on since the beginning of the Islamic State group (IS) militants presence and attacks in the region early last August. TEVDA executive Khalil Shingali who was handed over the aid, of mainly shoes and clothes, thanked the people of Kurdistan for the support and the Tevgera Alikarıya Rojava for the delivery. Shingali stated that the people had some basic needs more urgent than clothing, which include daily food, tents and containers with the onset of the summer and over temperature that also brought along a need for medicine in the face of the illnesses caused by it. Turkish intelligence MIT agent within Islamic State captured by Peshmerga in Mosul
Slemani:It has been reported that an agent of Turkish intelligence within Islamic State group (IS) was captured by the Kurdish peshmerga during a clash with IS militants in Mosul on 24 April. A source asking to be anonymous stated that the Turkish agent was taken captive during the fighting in the village of Sehelil in İyaziye district of Mosul two days ago which left 17 peshmergas and 35 members of IS militants dead. According to the source, the MIT agent from Erzurum province had formerly been arrested in Turkey on charges of murder, sentenced to 30 years in prison but was released by way of joining the IS as an agent of Turkish national intelligence service. The source speaking to ANF about the case told that Peshmerga Commander Tarik Koyi has turned the agent over to Omed Bahjat at Zerevani Intelligence Command. Masoud Barzani: ‘We are prepared to recover Mosul very quickly’
Amman: Masoud Barzani, the president of Iraqi Kurdistan, spoke to France 24. He discussed the situation in Iraq and the recent advances by the militant Islamic State group. Masoud Barzani expressed his “surprise” at the fall of Ramadi to the Islamic State group. “An investigation must be carried out by the Iraqi army to find out what happened”, he says. However, concerning Mosul, which fell to the jihadists almost a year ago, he says “we are prepared to recover Mosul very quickly to liberate it from IS (the Islamic State group). The city of Mosul must not wait for its liberation for too long”. Barzani expressed confidence that “with time, IS will lose to the Peshmerga”. He thanked the US-led coalition for its air strikes but says “we still do not have all the weapons that can protect the peshmerga and enable us to win”. Kurdistan PM calls for pressure on Baghdad to abide by oil deal
Erbil: Kurdistan PM Nechirvan Barzani called on the United Nations, U.S. and U.K. to pressure on the central government to abide by the oil deal struck between Baghdad and Erbil. Barzani met with the U.N. Special Representative for Iraq, Jan Kubis, in Erbil on Monday, to discuss developments in Anbar and the Baghdad-Erbil oil agreement. Barzani expressed his concern over the Iraqi government’s commitment to the oil agreement with the Kurdistan Region, which was signed with the support of the United Nations, U.S. and U.K. “Barzani called on the three entities [U.N., U.S. and U.K.] to play their roles and put pressure on the Iraqi government so as to commit to the deal and the law of the federal Budget,” the statement read. According to the deal, the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) is to export a total of 550,000 barrels per day (bpd) of oil through the Iraqi State Organization for Marketing of Oil (SOMO). Of that, 300,000 bpd is to be sent from the Kirkuk oil fields and the remaining 250,000 from the Kurdistan region via the Ceyhan pipeline to Turkey. In return, the KRG was promised 17 percent of the national budget. Baghdad: Iraqi Kurdish MP from the Kurdistan Alliance, Sherko Mirza saw that without military coordination between the security forces, the Kurdish Peshmerga, the Shiite popular defense forces and the tribes in addition to international support, Iraq will not be able to get rid of Islamic State group (IS) militants. Biden reassures Iraqi prime minister of US support
Washington: Vice President Joe Biden reassured Iraq’s government on Monday of U.S. support in the fight against the Islamic State group, telephoning Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi with thanks for “the enormous sacrifice and bravery of Iraqi forces” one day after Defense Secretary Ash Carter questioned the Iraqi military commitment. Biden’s call followed harsh criticism from Iraqi and Iranian quarters after Carter questioned Iraqi forces’ “will to fight” the surging Islamic State group. A White House statement on Monday describing Biden’s call said the vice president welcomed an Iraqi decision to mobilize additional troops and “prepare for counterattack operations.” Biden also pledged full U.S. support to “these and other Iraqi efforts to liberate territory from Islamic State,” the statement said…AP
Peshmerga participation in Mosul operation limited: minister
Erbil: The Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) Minister of Peshmerga, Mustafa Seyyed Ghader, stated the Kurdish forces of Peshmerga would participate in the planned operation to retake control of the Iraqi northern city of Mosul but the participation would be limited. He said the interests and the capabilities of the Kurdish forces could determine the extent of their participation in the operation. Ghader told Sky News that the kind and the amount of the weapons have been sent to Kurdistan Region has been registered minutely. He added the coalition forces are well aware of how the weapons have been distributed among the Kurdish forces, adding that the arms have been distributed based on the war against the Islamic State (IS) in separate regions. kurdpress.ir
