Masum emphasizes the importance of United Nations support for Iraq

President Fuad Masum stressed on Thursday the importance of UN efforts and support for Iraq in its war against terrorism, especially the reconstruction of the liberated areas from the control of the organization Daash and remove the obstacles to the return of displaced persons to it.
The presidency said in a statement today that Masum received a delegation from the United Nations Assistance Mission for Iraq under the chairmanship of Deputy Special Representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations in Iraq Georgi Posten and discussed with him the humanitarian situation of the displaced families and the need to coordinate efforts in this area as well as the results of tour of the Head of the Mission Jan Kubiš in the region to mobilize international support to help Iraq.
Masum stressed on the importance of efforts by the United Nations and support for Iraq in its war against terrorism, especially the reconstruction of the liberated areas from the control of the organization Daash and remove the obstacles to the return of displaced people to provide a decent life for them and support them economically and socially through the development programs of the International Organization.
For his part, Deputy Representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations expressed readiness of its mission to Iraq and other programs to provide all kinds of assistance to the Iraqi people and contribute to ease the suffering of displaced persons and sustain development in the country and the international organization. / End
