ISIS militant kills fellow fighters in Kobani, frees hostages

KOBANI—An Islamic State (ISIS) militant shot dead two of his fellow militants and handed himself over to the Kurdish forces in Kobani on Friday, said Rudaw correspondent in the city.
The ISIS militant also freed 16 hostages held by the extremist group after the Peoples Protection Units (YPG) stormed and controlled the building where the hostages were held.
“On Friday the YPG fighters recaptured a building on the road to Sheran town which was held by ISIS militants,” said our correspondent. “A number of residents of the area had been held hostage inside that building.”
The ISIS militants had placed a number of snipers on the building rooftop who were killed by the YPG fighters before storming the building.
A group of ISIS militants attacked the Kurdish city of Kobani on Thursday with two car bombs on the Kobani-Turkey border before taking position inside the city.
According to Kurdish officials in Kobani, most of the ISIS militants have been killed and the rest are under siege.
