BAGHDAD / Center Brief for the Iraqi Media Network (IMN) announced Finance Minister Hoshyar Zebari, on Sunday, said that the World Bank will provide loans to Iraq totaling $ 1.7 billion, while signed with the Regional Director of the World Bank for the Middle East and North Africa Farid Belhaj loan for emergency assistance agreement dedicated to the re reconstruction of liberated areas from terrorist gangs Daash and $ 350 million.
He said Finance Minister Hoshyar Zebari told a news conference at the ministry building on the sidelines of the signing of the contract with the representative of the World Bank's Middle East Farid Belhaj and attended the (IMN) said that "the amount of the World Bank loan, which will be worth $ 350 million will be allocated for the reconstruction of the liberated areas of control Daash gangs and some ministries. "
He pointed out that it "will include Diyala surrounding the city of Tikrit and the region that have been edited province three months ago."
He noted that "During the Iraq talks in Washington with the World Bank, the bank promised to visit him delegation to Iraq to identify areas in need of reconstruction," noting that "Diyala and Salahuddin are priorities of the World Bank loan."
He said Zebari said that "the amount of $ 350 million will be divided between the ministries of electricity, municipalities, Construction and Housing and Health and the remaining amount will be allocated to some projects and development assistance," pointing out that "repayment of the loan runs for 15 years at an interest rate of 1 percent ceiling."
This loan comes in the framework of a number of technical and financial assistance from the World Bank and that a total of up to 1.7 billion seven hundred million dollars for the development of development plans in Iraq.
For his part, the pilgrim that "the reconstruction of the liberated areas the project is an important project and the World Bank stressed the need to speed up the loan for joint cooperation with the Iraqi government," he said, adding that this is "a step towards a long road of cooperation between the World Bank and Iraq."
The Ministry of Finance confirmed on Wednesday after a meeting between Finance Minister Hoshyar Zebari and a representative of the World Bank Robert Poe quality that he would use another $ 350 million in financing through a project linking the city of Basra in the south, the port of Umm Qasr.
Iraq expects a deficit of around $ 25 billion this year in a budget of about $ 100 billion. The country is planning to issue bonds at five billion dollars to cover part of this deficit.
