Sayyid Ammar al-Hakim, head of the Islamic Supreme Council of Iraq, urged the ministries, the Commission of Integrity and the competent apparatuses to fight corruption from top to bottom and not the opposite, hoping that the political blocs can have clear vision on this vital issue which directly affects the state building and the political project in the country, maintaining that the announcement of lots of corruption issues does not necessarily means that we are fighting corruption the right way unless the main heads of corruption are cut off as well as those who support them, while also calling for a real, clear cooperation without misusing this issue and make it a political aim away from the goal that lies behind it.
This came during a speech delivered by his Eminence at the Baghdad Diwan for Youth at his office on Saturday, July 25, 2015 in the presence of a big number of young skills and leaders. The head of the Islamic Supreme Council of Iraq, Sayyid Ammar al-Hakim urged the youth to look at the cup half full of the achievements made during the last stage, and not to the cup half empty. “We are working, tracking and detecting the mistakes and we are discussing with our fellows in the country everything about how to overcome failures and how to keep the political process in the country on the right track in a way that reassures our citizens”, he added. In his opinion, to consider all politicians and officials losers is unrealistic and unfair to all the loyal and honest officials in the country who work for Iraq and for its people whose history is clean. In addition, his Eminence said that it is incorrect and unfair to have an opulent class enjoying the riches of the country along with a smashed class and unemployed people and it must be strictly opposed.
Furthermore, his eminence tackled, in his answers to a number of questions asked by the youth, issues that pertain to the presidential regime which he considered not convenient with our reality because it needs strong institutions as such institutions would prevent officials from tending to the vilified dictatorship that our people has suffered from during the last decades. His eminence explained at the same time that the situation and problems of the country are completely different from the situation in neighboring countries, which requires us to accept the parliamentarian regime for it is currently the life boat that will save us from dictatorship and will get things back to the way they were before the fall of the former regime. A number of matters will also brought up, mainly related to the need for science and research institutions as well as the targeting of political figures described by his eminence as a hateful and dark attack, in addition to other topics pertaining to the constitutional amendments, sectarianism, war martyrs and scholarships.
