Iranian Company Builds Electric Power Plant In Basra

Iranian ‘MAPNA’ Company announced starting work in the electrical power plant project in the Rumaila area in Basra, which costs $ 2.5 billion.
The executive director of the Company, Abbas Ali Abadi said in a press statement: “The Company started to implement the plant to generate electrical energy with natural gas in the Rumaila in southern Iraq after a year and a half of negotiations with the Iraqi side.”
He added: “the project is scheduled to be completed within 4 years, while the first unit will enter the national network in early 2017″.
The station aims to add 3,000 megawatts of electrical power to the Iraqi national network, which suffers from a severe shortage currently. /
