Foreign Ministry Summons Turkish ambassador

Foreign Ministry summoned the Turkish ambassador in Baghdad, Farouq Qaamakja, and told him Iraq’s concern on military operations of Turkish army in northern Iraq.
The ministry said in a statement today, “Foreign Minister, Ibrahim al-Jaafari inquired Qaamakja for his country’s military operations in the border areas of northern Iraq and told him Iraq’s concern of these operations, and what could cause potential human and material losses and psyche damage for civilians in villages and border areas that are exposed to shelling and armed movements.
Jaafari called on the Turkish government to coordinate with the Iraqi government about any military operations in those areas, stressing the desire of Iraq on Turkey’s internal security and the security of its citizens.
It is mentioned that Turkish warplanes bombed on 25, July locations for PKK in northern areas in Kurdistan after Ankara launched a campaign of arrests to elements of the party against the backdrop of the killing of two Turkish policemen at the hands of gunmen belonging to the party. / End
