Jaafari Appreciates Kuwait’s Position To Postpone the Debts On Iraq

Foreign Minister Ibrahim al-Jaafari appreciated Kuwait approval to postpone the payment of the remaining debt on Iraq this year until 2017.
Jaafari, during receiving a message from the Kuwaiti side handed over by acting Kuwaiti embassy in Baghdad, Khalid Neja’I, according to a Foreign Ministry statement, praised “the positions of Kuwait government and people in supporting Iraq in its war against Daash, stressing that these attitudes show the brotherhood and the depth of ties between the two brotherly countries.
The statement quoted him as saying: Kuwait’s response to the request of Iraq was quick, as if the Kuwaiti side understands what Iraq is going through from exceptional circumstances.

The State of Kuwait agreed to postpone the deduction of the amounts of compensation to Iraq additional years from 2016 until 2017 because of the financial crisis and added expenses made by Iraq in the fight against terrorism.
It is mentioned that Kuwait also decided, last year, to postpone deductions amounts imposed on Iraq by because of the invasion of the former regime in the nineties of the last century. / End
