Sayyid Ammar Al Hakim, head of the Islamic Supreme Council of Iraq, praised how the United Nations understand the situation in Iraq and expressed his hope that this would lead to additional assistance to the displaced families and their return to their regions as well as the support to Iraq in its war against terrorism. This came when his eminence received at his office in Baghdad, on Thursday, 6/8/2015, the Special Representative of the United Nations’ Secretary General for Iraq, Mr. Ján Kubiš. His eminence assured that ISIS does not only threaten Iraqis but the entire world peace and none of the states in the world are safe from the grave dangers that this terrorist organization can constitute to world security. He pointed out that the Iraqi security forces and the popular crowd have big chances of defeating ISIS, considering that the United Nations have a vital role to play in this delicate phase.
For his part, Mr. Kubiš highlighted his full support to Iraq in its war against terrorism, explaining that the United Nations will play a major role in the assistance and return of the displaced through assisting in the reconstruction of the infrastructure and the provision of services in those cities. On another hand, the Special Representative for Iraq insisted on the importance of initiatives and the need to reach one unifying initiative, indicating that the United Nations organization is assessing the situation in Iraq and understands what is going on in the Iraqi arena.
