EU announces opening a coordination office in Kurdistan Region

Shafaq News / Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) announced on Saturday, that the European Union (EU) has approved opening a coordination office in the region soon, welcoming the step taken by the Union, which came after great efforts and continuous coordination between EU and the Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs Department of Foreign Affairs in KRG and the completion of the legal proceedings.
Foreign relations official in KRG, Falah Mustafa said in a statement received by Shafaq News, that KRG welcomes opening this office and expressed his thanks to the officials in the European Union in response to the demands of KRG and opening of the office in the region.
He added that the European Union, which has an important place and has a membership of 28 countries and effect at the level of political crises and economic problems in the world in general and the Middle East in particular, can exercise an influential role in the current situation by supporting KRG in facing difficulties.
It should be noted that the past few years have witnessed a development in political and diplomatic fields and expand the circle of relations with the international community and so far there are representations of 33 countries in the region, including the five permanent members of the UN Security Council on the level of general consulates.
