UN urges Iraq to shut down clandestine detention centers

Twilight News / called on the United Nations Committee Against Torture Iraq on Friday to close what it described as secret detention centers where he is suspected militants including minors "severe torture".
The Commission challenged the constituent of 18 independent experts reviewed the Iraq record in the fight against torture and ill-treatment of Iraqi officials last month to mention by name one person imprisoned the country because of his torture in the justice system lost its way.
In results published on Friday, which the Commission expressed concerns that the information refers to a pattern which is suspected militants arrested or represent a high security risk including minors without a warrant and detained in facilities run by the defense and interior ministries.
The committee said they were "being held incommunicado in secret detention centers for long periods which are subjected to excruciating torture in order to extract confessions", as reported by Reuters and seen by Twilight News.
And it called on the United Nations Committee Against Torture government of Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi "make sure no one is held in any secret detention centers because these facilities is in itself a violation of the Convention against Torture and must be shut down."
No one was immediately contact with Iraqi officials for comment, but in the past month, Iraqi delegates meeting rejected any form of torture, whatever the perpetrator and gave assurances that torture is not systematic survey in the country.
The Committee called for the admission of such detention facilities, which said that in the military airport in Baghdad.
The committee said, citing allegations received by the facility in the old Muthanna military in western Baghdad, unveiled in 2011, the airport is still open and is continuing to work secretly under the control of two brigades fourth and fifty-sixth session army.
And fighting the army and the armed factions allied with the government organization Daash militants who seized large tracts of land in Iraq. The committee said a trial that calls for fighters from all sides raping women prisoners and committed acts of sexual violence.

"I made a recommendation to transfer the authority of the prison system to the Ministry of Justice."
