The Ministry of Construction and Housing, on Monday, that the housing fund contributed to the construction of more than 63 thousand housing units, pointing out that the amounts that have been lent since the establishment of the fund amounted to more than a trillion and 600 billion dinars. He said Minister of Construction Tariq Kikhany in a statement Alsumaria News received a copy of it, that "housing fund contributed to the construction of more than 63 thousand and 31 housing units since the establishment of the Housing Fund in 2004," noting that "the amounts that have been lent since the establishment of the fund amounted to more than a trillion and 629 dinars ". He Kikhany, that "the amounts that have been lent since the first of the year 2015 until the end of July amounted to 345 billion and 185 million dinars," noting that "the number of borrowers reached 11095 borrower." The Cabinet decided, in (5 May 2015), lending to the housing fund hundred billion dinars to support housing loans. It is noteworthy that Iraq suffers from a severe housing crisis due to the growing number of Iraq's population relative to the number of residential complexes, in addition to the inability of citizens with limited income from the construction of its own housing units because of the high cost of land and construction materials.
