the US Department of Defense (Pentagon) announced that ISIS terrorist organization has made progress in Baiji city on the expense of the Iraqi forces,
expressing concern about the control of the organization in this city on the strategic road between Baghdad and Mosul.
The Pentagon’s spokesman , Jeff Davis said the situation in Baiji city reflected in favor of ISIS and a lot of the gains achieved by Iraqi forces were lost in recent days, the United States express concern for this matter.
But Davis pointed out at the same time that the situation on the ground remains "variable" stressing that the United States is determined to help Iraqi forces to keep control of the city retake the refinery located near it.
Fierce battles are taking place between Iraqi forces and ISIS terrorists in Baiji city, about 200 km north of Baghdad.
Pentagon considered Baiji and its refinery - the largest in the country- as a strategic challenge in facing ISIS organization, as the international coalition led by the United States has launched several air raids against militants in the area.
