Contract estimated to be worth US$500m Kentz wins Iraq oil processing contract

Will design, build, start up 100,000 bbl/d facility KENTZ has won a contract to design and build a new ExxonMobil oil processing facility for the West Qurna 1 oil field in Iraq The contract will provide the front-end engineering design (FEED), detailed design engineering, procurement, fabrication, construction, commissioning and startup of the new facility. It will be designed to process full well stream fluids from the production wellhead area and separate them into associated gas, untreated produced water, and 100,000 bbl/d of crude for export. Kentz, a subsidiary of Canada’s SNC-Lavalin, will complete the work in the next 26 months. It has not disclosed the value of the contract, though an analyst quoted by the Globe & Mail puts it at US$500m. The work will be carried out at Kentz’ Abu Dhabi engineering hub with support from its Dubai operations. West Qurna is one of the largest oil fields in Iraq, with ExxonMobil’s phase one aimed at developing around 9bn of the field’s 43bn bbl of recoverable reserves
