Adviser to Khamenei: Iran plays a significant role in Iraq

Advisor to Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, Major General Yahya Safavi announced on Friday that the Islamic Republic of Iran plays a large role in the face of Daash terrorist group in Iraq, at the request of the Iraqi government.”
Safavi said in his speech before Friday prayers in Tehran that the American, after the toppling of Saddam’s regime, decided the formation of a secular government and hostile to Iran in Iraq, but the vigilance of the people and the religious Authority stood against achieving this goal.”
He added that the Iraqi government has very good relations with Iran, which played a significant role in the fight against Daash in Iraq.”
He emphasized that the US coalition against Daash did not contribute to combat it, but also provides support for terrorists in some Iraqi areas. / End
