Parliamentary Economic calls to cut import cement from abroad

It called for economic and investment commission in Parliament, on Monday, to cut import cement from overseas countries, pointing out that Iraq has the self-sufficiency of this article.
Deputy Chairman of the Committee Yahya Ithawi in a televised interview that "Iraq has about 23 plants for Cement and operates seven foreign companies in cooperation with the Iraqi government," noting that "the production of these plants is enough for the need of the Iraqi market."
Ithawi and called on the House of Representatives to "follow the laws and procedures in the implementation of cutting import cement from abroad, because Iraq has the self-sufficiency of this article," adding that "the government still imports about eight million tons of cement from overseas countries."
Referred to the House of Representatives passed in January 2011 Domestic Product Protection Act, which economists saw as a quantum leap for the Iraqi economy, as it would protect him from marginalization and the dominance of imported goods, but the law is still not effective yet.
