Staff demonstrated the Iraqi ports, demanding their rights functional

Left scores of staff of the General Company for Ports of Iraq, which is based in the province of Basra to demand the functional rights and improve their working conditions, as called for legislation Maritime Authority Act to eliminate the phenomenon of the multiplicity of authorities in ports.
He said one of the organizers of the demonstration, the employee Kadhim Baahili, said that "dozens of company employees came out in a peaceful demonstration near its headquarters located in the stronghold area to demand the functional rights and improve their working conditions and management reforms," noting that the demands include the claim Council of Ministers with the exception of Real Estate Company of Resolution No. 317 of the year 2011 which prevents the sale of the real estate company to its employees, and claim the company's management to give priority in employment for people with retired employees, in addition to giving staff allowances relating to dangerous food and geographical location, as well as granting annual bonuses without delay, and raise Soothing staff.
Baahili He pointed out that the demonstrators also demanded the staff to activate the role of regulatory agencies to reduce the company's expenses and increase revenues, and completion of the final accounts for previous years to enable the staff to get their share of the profits.
He added that they have other demands include exemption of department managers and people who lack the experience and competence, and stay away from partisan quotas in the distribution of positions within the company, and increase the number of members of the Board of Directors, and we demand the House of Representatives to expedite the legislation Maritime Authority Act.
The sea captain in the company Hilfi said the legislation Maritime Authority Act is a key demand of the protesters, especially since the draft law on the table of the House for years, has not been voted on so far in spite of its importance in the development and regulation of the work of commercial ports.
He explained that the Iraqi ports suffer from the multiplicity of authorities which, as it operates many security and regulatory circles, each circle impose instructions and adopt their own controls, while most of the coastal countries of the world united power of the ports are located.
