Iraqi Railways revenues amounted to one billion and a quarter billion dinars last month
Baghdad, June 8 (Rn) - The railway company of the Iraqi transport ministry said on Wednesday that its revenues amounted to more than a billion and a quarter billion dinars during the month of May last, with an increase from the previous month, which amounted to 948 million dinars.
The official spokesman said the company Khersan Jawad told the Kurdish news agency (Rn) that "the proceeds of railways amounted to more than a billion and a quarter of a billion Iraqi dinars from the company's activities during the month of May (May) the past."
He explained that "the proceeds of the transfer of goods amounting to one billion and 139 million dinars, while revenue passenger transport 145 million dinars, while the proceeds of other activities has reached to 101 million Iraqi dinars."
The Ministry of Transport has announced that the ninth of January last, that the railway company to lose $ 72 billion dinars a year salaries to its employees, indicating that annual earnings not to exceed 12 billion Iraqi dinars.
Khersan added that "the company of the Railways is seeking to develop their capacities required for the advancement of by rail through the open door of investment to create new lines."
The Ministry of Transport had announced earlier that it transported more than a million tons of goods through the railway system within a time limit on per cent set by Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki's cabinet ministers in order to improve the performance of their ministries.
Iraq seeks to build a system of integrated transport link with the regional countries through the dry channel that links the Mediterranean and the Persian Gulf and East Asia, and is the biggest transfer channel in the world.
