Inflation Rates Analysis
1.Monthly Inflation Rates:-
Consumer price index for October 2011 in Iraq has amounted to (134.2%) increasing at a
rate of (0.3%) as compared with the previous month due to the relative increase in prices
of the divisions of (Alcoholic Beverages and Tobacco, Housing, Health, and Restaurants
) at the monthly rates of (0.2%, 3.0%, 0.5%, 0.2% ) respectively.
The reason behind prices increase in the division of Housing is mainly due to the increase
in the prices of Rent and Electricity and Water Supply .
As for (Food and Non-Alcoholic Beverages, Clothes and
Footwear, ,Transportation, Communication, Recreation and Culture, Education and
Miscellaneous Services and goods) divisions have registered decrease as compared with
the previouse month at the rates (1.6%, 0.4%, 1.2%,0.3%, 0.1%, 1.2%, 1.0%) .
2.Annual Inflation Rates :‐
Consumer price index for October 2011 in Iraq has amounted to (134.2%) increasing at a
rate of (4.8%) as compared with October 2010 which amounted to (128.1%) due to the
increase in the index numbers of the divisions ( Food and Non-Alcoholic
Beverages, Alcoholic Beverages and Tobacco,Clothes and Footwear, Housing,House
Supplies Supplies appliances and Maintenance Health ,appliances and Maintenance, Health, Education Education Restaurants and Miscellaneous , Restaurants and Miscellaneous
Services and goods) at the rates of (0.4%,5.0%, 4.3%, 11.5%, 2.0%,8.6%
,7.9%, 6.3%, 14.5% ) respectively.
The reason of this increase belongs to the increase of some goods as compared with
October 2010, where in the division of Clothes and Footwear prices of Cloth Fabrics
, Sewing Clothes Services,Men
,
s Readymade Wear ,Children,s Readymade Wear, Clothes
Cleaning and Footwear increased. ,while in the division of Housing the prices of rent have
increased in addition to the increase in Feul prices and electricity fees due to the new
pricing application.
As for (Transportation, Communication, Recreation and Culture) divisions registered
decrease as compared with the previouse month at the rates(4.1%, 1.0%, 2.3%).
3.Inflation Averages as Compared with 2007:-
Consumer price index for October 2011 has amounted to (134.2%), which means that the
general level for prices on October 2011 increased at a rate of (34.2%) as compared with
the year of 2007
