Iraq: the interests of Exxon in the south of the much larger Kurdish deal

BAGHDAD (Reuters) - Iraq's oil minister said his country believes that Exxon Mobil is less concerned about the implementation of its contract controversial in the Kurdish region because the contract in southern Iraq, much larger.
Exxon has signed six contracts for oil and gas with the Kurdish region. There is disagreement between the central government in Baghdad and the Kurdish regional government on the rights of oil and land.
Baghdad said the deals signed with the regional government is legal and has hinted that the Exxon agreement with the North detriment of its contract to develop the West Qurna field in southern Iraq.
The Minister of Oil Abdul Karim and coffee, told Reuters in Baghdad before leaving for Tokyo on Saturday, "Exxon's interests in Iraq is huge and not comparable to what was announced from the small areas in the region (Kurdish)."
When asked if he would cancel Exxon contract answered, "will talk about this later after we receive the response Exxon."
He said he expected a response from the U.S. company in a few days has not commented since the announcement of Exxon Kurdish officials on the deal last week.
And Exxon signed a partnership with the Royal Dac billions of dollars in contracts with the Iraqi Oil Ministry to develop the first phase of West Qurna field in the south and a reserve of 8.7 billion barrels.
