Iraq PM, US Congressional delegation discuss latest developments

BAGHDAD, June 10 (KUNA) -- Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki discussed here on Friday with a delegation from the U.S. Congress headed by the Foreign Affairs Committee member in the U.S. Congress Dana Rohr bilateral relations and the strategic framework agreement between Iraq and the United States.
A statement by the Prime Minister's Office distributed here said that al-Maliki also discussed the situation and developments in the region, especially in Syria, Yemen and Libya.
Al-Maliki stressed during the meeting Iraq's position in support of the uprising of peoples, promotion of freedoms and to work on achieving reforms demanded by the people away from violence and resorting to force.
He called on expanding cooperation between Iraq and the United States in various fields.
The US delegation expressed the US' willingness to strengthen relations and increase cooperation under the Strategic Framework Agreement between the two sides. (end).
